Day 177/365 (February 11, 2009)

Sasha and I were going to try the In The Heights lotto for the matinee show, but there was a problem... they didnt have one!. I thought this was the case when Sasha first asked, but then when i looked it up on Playbill it said they had a matinee, but then we learned early this mornign i was right and Playbill was wrong. We then decided we would rush either Guys and Dolls or The Story of My Life. We both wanted to try G&D first and that is what we ended up getting a ticket to.

We got lunch and went back to Sasha's for a bit before showtime. Entering the Nederlander after all of its' changes (especially after seeing Rent the night before) was crazy weird and emotional. The place really does look gorgeous and still smells of paint. Seeing Brian, Sonny, and Terrance all spify-ed up was just weird. They looked great but they were so dressy! We chatted for a bit before heading in to our grayish/silver seats. During intermission we went up to see the view from the Mezz and the beautiful ceiling artwork is of course gone :(

I had wanted to take pictures but couldnt find my camera at the time, and forgot to bring my phone with me. The show itself is pretty good but i will refrain from my actual opinions but my favorites were the ensemble and the two playing Sarah and Skye. There is some impressive choreography during the sewer craps game. We had a partial view and the place was packed so we couldnt move over but they do have an impressive screen for background at times and an incredible sound system. Before the show began the director came out and made a few announcements that inlcuded telling us this was the first wednesday matinee performance, turn off all electronics, no recordings, and my personal favorite explaning what a preview means and telling us that this might be a train wreck... LOL!

Stage Door was a fiasco to say the least! SO many people and so many that i am not quite familiar with so by the time i saw them and was able to process who they were they had already left. Some even left at rapid speed even though i saw them coming, but didnt stop them because i could tell they just wanted to leave. i did get this picture with Nick Adams and got his and Steve Rosens' autograph.
